Thunderstruck was a neighbor’s cherry tree struck by lightning. The center of the sculpture is splintered revealing the force of the lightning strike. Note the insect borings and intentional chain-saw markings on the exterior sapwood. The heartwood is carved and polished smooth. Thunderstruck was exhibited for three years in the U.S. Art-in-Embassies program in Rome, Italy.
